Soccer
Before we get to anything else, you need to read Vin Mercogliano’s column.
It explains why so many teams are playing three and four games each week. The decision to start a week late has brought a number of potential issues into play, and overuse injuries head the list. The end result is less time for practice, less time for recovery, less time for makeup games. Can you imagine what’s going to happen if we get three or four days of heavy rain.
Mercogliano: Short soccer schedule a health risk
And if you didn’t see the pay-for-play special report we just did, check out my story on specializing, which is what a large number of the best soccer players are doing.
PLAYING THROUGH PAIN: Does youth sports specialization lead to more injuries?
In other news, Josh Thomson and I will be on WVOX, AM 1460 tomorrow at 11 a.m., discussing the project. Give us a listen.
We are covering a game this afternoon. Yorktown could make a little noise with a good showing at North Rockland. Alex will be there and you can follow him @SlimbradyAlex for updates. I’ll be around later and will be putting the recaps online.
